Brewing Strength - A Stirring Day of Support and Insight
On Monday mum and Kelly’s Cause hosted Brewing Strength where the hospitality industry came together to raise funds for charity and stir up conversation around mental health.
Chef Sabrina Gidda shared a moving story of how cooking helped her navigate grief. Finding structure in setting small goals and comfort in the familiar warmth of her mum’s garden kitchen. Even recreating her mum’s masala chai took 11 heartfelt tries but she did it, keeping memories alive one spice at a time.
Merly Kammerling from Well & Being got us moving (literally), asking if we’re all just "boiling frogs" stuck in stress mode. She reminded us to complete the stress cycle—by dancing, shaking it off, or even hugging ourselves on a loo break! Whether it's tension release, breathwork, or a group boogie before shift, small mindful moments can reset the nervous system.
We also explored with Arron Smallman how to truly support someone in recovery - by walking beside them with empathy, not ahead. Let them steer, while you offer kind guidance and help connect them to further support when needed. A warm handover, a thoughtful follow-up, and a grateful thank you go a long way.
From chai to cheeky dance breaks, the day was a delicious blend of purpose, play, and connection. Because sometimes, the best way to Brew Strength is together.
